Historic Fund Raising Drive
The biggest fund raising exercise in the history of the Wah Yan Colleges is underway! We are counting on your support!
As indicated in the our April 2007 newsletter, the Foundation is working closely together with Rev. A.J. Deignan and the schools to push for split class education. Subsequently, the discussion has involved the inclusion of teachers・ enhancement programs; and whole person and character building education for the future Wahyanites.
The teachers・ enhancement programs will involve selecting teachers to be sent for educational trainings and attendance at workshops, either locally or overseas. We firmly believe that by providing an opportunity of growth to these teachers, they will in turn enrich the students who will be under their care and guidance.
Wah Yan Colleges, over the years, has educated us not only in the academic field, rather, we are who we are today, because of the values and character that was instilled in us by the teachers and the schools, who have guided us over our formation years. Thus, a series of extra curricular programs are being developed to carry on this great tradition of Wah Yan Colleges. Rev. Fr. Deignan had aptly described, "We want to make our education in Wah Yan not only one of excellence in developing students・ knowledge, but also one of excellence in developing students・ character and values."
To realize our dream for Wah Yan・s future, massive funding will be required. The schools have worked out an annual budget of approximately HK$6.8 million for all the programs to be in place. This is a tall order, given the limited resources of the Foundation! We have considered various exercises to raise funds annually to meet these expenses, however, it will be a risky proposition. For the Foundation, it will be an unacceptable scenario for us to launch these programs for a few years, and let all the efforts and good work go to waste, if and when possible funds and donations dwindle. Therefore, a sensible solution will be that enough funds be raised and set aside for safe and secure investments, whereby the returns from these investments will be utilized for the continuous pursuit of our dreams for Wah Yan・s Future.
Thus, we are launching the biggest fund raising in our schools・ history. This may even be the biggest in the history of the education field in Hong Kong. We are setting a target of HK$100 million! A fund raising committee had been formed, with Rev. A.J. Deignan as Chairman of the committee. Series of fund raising events has been planned: including Concerts, walkathon, Grand Dinner Ball, movie gala premiere, golf day, and credit card affiliations are in the process. All avenues for sourcing money for our Alma Mater are considered. In fact, many alumni are in fact working feverishly on various campaigns NOW.
We need your help, we need your donation, in fact we are counting on it! It is time for us, you, me, and all Wahyanites to stand up and be counted. The opportunity for us to say :Thank you, Wah Yan, for what you had done for me; is here!
