Dear Students, Parents, Alumni and Friends of Wah Yan,

As you are aware, our alumni Professor Chung Sheung Chi Sydney, a veteran runner who is better known as the hero of SARS, has led a group of Wah Yan boys to participate in the 10km Race in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in February 2008 and all were able not only to finish but in good time.

"Long distance running is certainly one of the best physical activities through which students and parents and alumni could eradicate stress and refresh their minds for solving vexed problems," said Professor Chung, "...with appropriate training our students aged 14 and above should be able to run 10 km with ease. "

Professor Chung is prepared to lead a bigger group of boys to participate in the 10 km Race of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2009 on Sunday, 8 February 2009.What's more encouraging, Rev. Stephen Chow S.J., our School Supervisor of the two Wah Yans, Mr George Tam, Principal of Wah Yan College Hong Kong and Mr Norman So, Principal of Wah Yan College Kowloon will run or walk the 10 km Race in 2009 as a token of support to all participants.

They wish to, with the support from many of you, raise $500,000 each for the Foundation for the betterment of education and students' whole person development at Wah Yan. This is the first of our "Dream" fundraising initiatives in 2009.

To encourage participation in running and sponsorship, The Foundation is rendering the following support/incentive:

1. Professor Chung will provide a free medical check-up to ensure you are fit for the Race
2. We will sponsor the participation fee of students in need
3. A team tee will be provided for all participants from the Wah Yan family
4. We will reward the 3 best performing classes and students in each Wah Yan for
   1. gathering the most number of participants or
   2. raising the most amount of donations

6. At least 6 training clinics will be provided by Professor Chung and sports masters at the two Wah Yans to guide you through the journey. Details of other sessions as below:
